  MERCY FLIGHT SERVICES STILL NEEDED, DESPITE NEW HELICOPTER AIR AMBULANCE--Neil Snedeker, President and COO of Mercy Flight Central based in Marcellus and Canandaigua but serving much of Northern New York, says there are times when a helicopter cannot travel in the North Country because of weather, so the new air ambulance to be provided by a partnership between Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown and the for-profit Air Methods is not really competition. The non-profit Mercy Flight, which often uses fixed-wing aircraft to transport critically-ill or injured persons to hospitals as far away as Plattsburgh, has mounted its annual fund-raising campaign; many Potsdam-area residents have received letters asking for donations.
