POTSDAM TOWN COUNCIL SUPPORTS BOTH "I-98" AND "YES-11", VOTE NOT UNANIMOUS--The council voted 3-2 Tuesday in favor of a resolution supporting both projects. The two who voted no were Rose Rivezzi and Judith Rich. Rich says she does not support a proposed east-west four-lane interstate because she does not want the area to "become Albany," that it would destroy community character. Rivezzi says she feels federal highway dollars are better spent on the existing infrastructure. Support for either "I-98" or "Yes-11" is hotly contentious; sources within local Democratic party circles have told us many times that support for candidates seeking its line has been contingent upon support for "I-98".
