DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ISSUES INVOLVING POLICE OFFICERS POSES SPECIAL PROBLEMS, CANTON CHIEF SAYS--The Canton Police Department is hosting about 30 supervisory-level officers from all over St.Lawrence County today to train them in dealing with domestic violence issues involving their own. Mulkin says the effort shows police are serious about combating domestic violence at all levels, and whether the police officer is the perpetrator or victim training is necessary to help higher-level officers handle the difficulties.
1100 STUDENTS ATTEND "GATEWAYS TO CAREERS"--Every school district in St.Lawrence County, Harrisville in Lewis County, and St.Regis Falls in Franklin County participated this year in the annual BOCES event, that gives juniors and seniors the opportunity to have simulated job inteviwews from area employers. 53 employers participated this year.
