OWENS WANTS TO KNOW SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR CAMERAS, AND WHERE DATA IS GOING—Congressman Bill Owens told reporters in Canton Monday he is still trying to get more information about the license plate-reading devices that have cropped up all over St. Lawrence County. He says he wants to know exactly where the money for them is coming from, and whether the data collection is just that, general data collection or if there's a purpose behind it. Owens says it is his understanding that the use of the cameras is legal.
