2010 THEFT CASE RE-OPENED, OGDENSBURG MAN ARRESTED AND JAILED—State Police in Canton say 27-year-old Joseph Bateman was arrested Friday on a count of third degree grand larceny, a felony alleging he swiped about 6-thousand-dollars in cash from the Factory Fireplace on Route 68 in September, 2010. The case was closed that year for lack of information, but a statement from a former girlfriend resulted in a re-opening. Bateman was also charged with two felony counts of witness intimidation—instilling fear of injury. Bateman was arraigned before a Town of Oswegatchie justice and sent to St. Lawrence County Corrections on 2500 dollars cash bail or 5000 dollars bail bond.
