SEX OFFENDER BUSTED ON BAD CHECK CHARGE—Deputies arrested 72-year-old Leon, aka “Bum” or “Bummer” Ellis of Sand Street in Brier Hill late last month on a misdemeanor bad check count alleging he kited a bouncer at Wayne's Gas and Service in Madrid. He was released on a court ticket. Ellis has a long history of issues with law enforcement. He is a Level 3, or high risk sex offender on the state registry for a February, 2006 conviction on a felony count he abused a 79-year-old male. Ellis was arrested in June, 2010 on a count of failing to register his address, then Fulton Road in Lisbon.
