99 NEWS FOR SATURDAY, 11/10/12...We were affected by the Time Warner Cable outage yesterday, just like many thousands of others in the North Country who lost internet and phone service for most of the day Friday when a train struck the line on County Route 35.
COUNTY LIBRARY FUNDING CUTS MORE DAMAGING THAN OTHERS, DIRECTORS SAY—Ogdensburg Public Library Director Wayne Miller told St. Lawrence County Legislators recently a loss of county funding to a “central library”--that has the responsibility at the state level to provide more reference materials than others in the region—is more damaging because it must maintain a certain funding level, and the loss of state funds if it fails to do so results in a more than 2-to-1 cut from the state. County Legislators cut all funding to libraries in the 2013 budget.
