INSURANCE COST INCREASE FORECAST FOR POTSDAM CENTRAL NEARLY HALF-A-MILLION-DOLLARS NEXT YEAR—Business Officer Laura Hart and Superintendent Pat Brady told the Board of Education that component districts in the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Insurance Consortium are expected to see a 9-percent hike in worker's compensation, and 9-and-a-half percent in health coverage premium—in dollars about 90-thousand and 400-thousand, respectively. Hart says the health insurance increase is particularly troublesome, as school districts have been told by the state they need to keep more money in reserve. On health insurance, board member Pat Turbett attributes the cost of “designer” prescription drugs as one of the drivers for the increase.
