BLANKENBUSH SAYS GUN BILL CONTROVERSIES COULD HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT—Republican Minority Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush—who covers seven towns in St. Lawrence County--told 99 News Friday issues such as the number of bullets in a clip could have been negotiated properly and police been exempted, had the legislation not hit the floor of the chamber late Tuesday night as a “necessity” item. Blankenbush says when Majority Democrats were questioned about police being included in the seven-bullet limit, Republican lawmakers were told it was not the Cuomo Administration's intent to include police in that—but it was still in the language of the bill and there was not enough time to change it. Blankenbush says that failure to deliberate a bill properly now makes any police officer with more than seven rounds in a gun a law-breaker.
