ENERGY SAVINGS A POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF USING DISPOSABLE CAFETERIA MATERIALS, FINANCE CHAIR SAYS—Potsdam School Board Finance Committee Chair Pat Turbett told the rest of the Committee and staff last week one possibility that could arise from switching to disposables to save money in food service would be to burn the trash for heat, and save money. The board is looking at a 1.2 million-dollar draft budget deficit for next year and is starting to think about what to cut and what to keep.

POTSDAM PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR FRED HANSS EXPLAINS WHERE 92-THOUSAND-DOLLARS WOULD IN LOCAL WATERFRONT REVITALIZATION MONEY—Hanss told Trustees late last month the funds would be used to draw up plans for Ives Park and other parts of the project, to include possible work at the Potsdam Fire Hall and other enhancements. Trustee Steve Warr called it “an expensive picture” but voted yes; Trustee Ruth Garner voted no because of liability concerns over a potential playground in the park. The vote was 4-1.
